Galicia campaign (23 agos 1914 año – 26 sept 1914 año)
Descripción:
The Austro-Hungarians attacked with two armies towards Lublin and Kholm while intending to defend with a third from Lemberg to the Rumanian border. The Russians attacked as well, with an army each advancing from Lublin and Kholm while two armies advanced towards Lemberg. In a gigantic meeting engagement encompassing three battles, the Austro-Hungarians fared better to the north and west along a three hundred mile long line of contact while the Russians fared better to the south and east. The Austro-Hungarians became outnumbered as further Russian forces arrived. In an effort to assist their faltering right wing, the Austro-Hungarians began shifting forces southeast, creating a gap in their line.
