Protestantism in China known as the Taiping civil war or the Taiping revolution, was a civil war in china between the Manchu-led Qing dynasty and the Hakka-Led Taiping heavnily kingdom.
The Taiping rebellion was influenced by christain teachings but combined with local millenarian beliefs and confucian values

Taiping faith focused on the belief of shangoli, the high of god of classical china, hong xiuquan, and god worshipping
Hong was influenced by protestant Christian teachings, believed he was the younger brother of Jesus and wanted to create a heavenly kingdom on earth
He combined elements nof Christianity with Chinese millenarian beliefs and social ideals inspired by the confucianism and wanted to replace the Qing dynasty which they saw as corrupt

Chinese officials such as Heshen regularly stole taxe revenue and public funds which then lead to a widespread of starvation

The population growth also played a big role in it because then that meant there wasn't enough farmland or jobs for everyone.
