Charlottetown Conference (1 sept 1864 año – 9 sept 1864 año)
Descripción:
Representatives from the Province of Canada, including Sir John A. Macdonald, joined delegates from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI in Charlottetown to discuss the union of all British North American colonies into one nation. All of the colonies were worried about the threat of invasion from the ongoing U.S. Civil War along with the hard economic times they were experiencing and discussed how confederation could possibly resolve/weaken those issues. It turned into more of a party than an actual conference, but even so, it was the first meeting where many of the leaders who were present would go on to draft and finalize the Canadian Confederation.
