U.S. Civil War (12 abr 1861 año – 9 abr 1865 año)

Descripción:

The U.S. Civil War was a war between the northern Union states fighting for the abolishment of slavery and uniting the country again and the southern Confederate states fighting to keep slavery. While Britain and its colonies were technically neutral, they "secretly" advocated for the confederates as they were the smaller power taking on a bigger power. This angered the Union states who then proclaimed threats of annexation or invasion of Canada. People within British North America knew that their colonies were too broken up with an ineffective government and military, along with little support from Great Britain itself, and that they would not be able to defend against a U.S. invasion. This started to cause a lot of discussion and moving support towards confederation in order to have all the British North American colonies united and stronger in defence and economy.
