Afonso V (1438-1481) (1 ene 1438 año – 1 ene 1481 año)
Descripción:
D. Afonso V organized multiple expeditions to Africa, particularly targeting the region of Morocco, with the goal of conquering cities that would alleviate the isolation and constant threats faced by Ceuta. The intended conquests were strategically located along the Moroccan coast to facilitate their capture and support Ceuta's security.
Among the cities taken were Alcácer Ceguer (1458) and Arzila (1471). The fall of Arzila instilled fear among the Moors, leading them to surrender the city of Tangier to the Portuguese (1471) without a military confrontation.
