The Ovambo leaders tried to cause confusion between the European powers at the time (British, German, and Portuguese) and turn them against each other. Unfortunately their plan back-fired. The European powers banned together and convened at the Berlin Conference. They decided, with the lead of Germany, that Namibia would become a German colony.
