Progressive Era (1 ene 1900 año – 1 ene 1920 año)

Descripción:

The Progressive Era was a political movement in the US defined by sociopolitical reform, mainly through government action. Progressives were intent on establishing a government for the benefit of the people, and rejected the policies of the Gilded Age. Progressives included political leaders like Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. A highlight of the Progressive Era was the Roosevelt Square Deal, which didn't favor business or labor, but instead mediated between the two. Roosevelt also went after "bad trusts", and regulated good ones, earning him the title of "Trustbuster". Another highlight of this era was Wilson's New Freedom, which included lower tariffs, the FTC and Clayton Antitrust Act, and regional banks supervised by the Federal Reserve. The Progressive Era brough a respite from industrial capitalism, but ended with World War 1 as we became more concerned with foreign affairs and military spending.
