In spring of 1992 a motorist known as Rodney King was chased by police suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. After King was pulled over, he was beaten by four police officers with batons and stun guns. The acquittal of the four white police officers sparked outrage throughout Los Angeles. Protesters took to the streets fighting the justice of Rodney King. Some of these protesters were violent and turned to arson and thieving during the chaos of the protests. 63 people died during the riots including 10 of them from law enforcement or national guard.
