One of the more prominent women in the Julio-Claudian dynasty: she was a great-granddaughter of Augustus, great-niece and adoptive granddaughter Tiberius, sister of the Caligula, niece and fourth wife of Claudius, and mother of Nero.

She has been described by the ancient and modern sources as "ruthless, ambitious, violent and domineering".
