World War II (1939-1945) (1 sept 1939 año – 2 sept 1945 año)
Descripción:
The war involved many of the world's nations, with two opposing alliances: the Allies (led by the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and China) and the Axis (led by Nazi Germany, Italy, and Japan).
WWII saw significant developments in military psychology. There was development in and refinement in intelligence tests, aptitude tests, and personality assessments. There was increased awareness of combat stress reactions and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research in social psychology examined the mechanisms of persuasion and the role of mass media in shaping attitudes and behaviors. The war provided opportunities to study group dynamics, leadership, and the psychology of small groups. Psychologists became more involved in providing therapeutic services and addressing the mental health needs of individuals and communities (Bhattacharjee et al., 2021).
