First Great Awakening (1730s-1740s) (1 feb 1730 año – 1 mayo 1740 año)
Descripción:
The first great awakening was a time when religious leaders wanted people to feel strongly about their faith, make their own choices, think deeply about their beliefs, create a unique American religious identity, and be influenced by powerful leaders. The movement had psychological implications in terms of individual experiences, emotions, and cognitive processes. The movement allowed for personal agency with regards to faith and destiny impacting concepts such as self-efficacy and personal autonomy. Also, it influenced cognitive processes related to decision-making, reasoning, and introspection (Kidd, 2008).
