The age of discovery was a 100 year period in which European countries expanded outward to mainly Africa and the Americas for more resources and slaves. Henry the navigator of Portugal began his search for a sea route east by south to Cathay. He wanted to learn about the world, establish new trade routes and was eager to test new ship designs. And then Christopher Columbus sailed from Palos Spain to what he assumed would be Japan or China. Instead reaching the central American islands, Which was most likely the biggest discovery of this age.
