After the retrospectively embarrassing lack of growth in the field of spaceflight by NASA during the slow creep forwards, NASA shot back into the spotlight quite startlingly with the launching of the Lunar Gateway space station in November of 2024, as was planned earlier in 2020. The Lunar Gateway was the first human-inhabited Space-Station in orbit around a body other than Earth itself, and the Gateway was a vital stepping stone which made the American and International manned moon missions that followed it far more feasible.
