This house was owned by Ricardo Ordorica. Defendant referred to Ordorica as her nephew, and Ordorica referred to defendant as his aunt because they were "very close" although they were not related. The house had two floors, and Ordorica and his family lived in the downstairs flat. In 1981 or 1982, defendant began renting the upstairs flat. At first she lived there alone. Defendant had previously run a "room and board" facility in Sacramento in the 1970's
