Arrian 73/74 Greek historian (1 ene 86 año – 1 ene 160 año)

Descripción:

Greek historian, official and philosopher.

The most reliable account of Alexander's life is that of Arrian, who wrote in the 2nd century AD. Arrian had access to all of the major ancient sources, including the lost works of Callisthenes, Ptolemy, and Nearchus. He also traveled to many of the places that Alexander had visited, which gave him a firsthand understanding of the terrain and the cultures that Alexander encountered.

Arrian's account is not without its flaws, but it is the most reliable account of Alexander's life that we have. It provides us with a detailed and balanced account of Alexander's life and deeds, and it is the foundation for all subsequent studies of Alexander the Great.

The Anabasis of Alexander by Arrian is considered the best source on the campaigns of Alexander the Great. Scholars have generally preferred Arrian to other extant primary sources, though this attitude has changed somewhat in light of modern studies into Arrian's method.

The Anabasis of Alexander comprises seven books. Arrian used Xenophon's account of the March of Cyrus as the basis for this work.
