Cook led yet another voyage aboard the HMS Revolution accompanied by Charles Clerke who commanded the HMS Discovery. Their goal was to locate a Northwest Passage. After bad weather blew them off track he headed for Hawaii. After a months stay cook attempted to resume his exploration. Shortly leaving his mast broke. So he returned to Kealakekua Bay for repairs. Tensions rose and cook attempted to kidnap the king of Hawaii and hold him for ransom. In the process the people of Hawaii began to realize Cook was their enemy and as adirect affect Cook was killed along with four marines and two others were injured. Clerke took leadership of the exploration but eventually died of teburculosus. His crew soon after returned to england.
