Little is said about Abdon other than that he was a Pirathonite (from the tribe of Ephraim) and that he judged Israel immediately after Elon for 8 years.

Extra-biblical sources say he worked to restore peace in central Israel after the civil war between the Gileadites and the Ephraimites (back during the time of Jephthah).
