Mary Wollstonecraft (1 ene 1759 año – 1 ene 1797 año)

Descripción:

One of the pioneers of Women's Rights, Wollstonecraft had a rough childhood, starting in a middle-class family until her father became a drunkard and squandered the family's wealth. She taught herself how to read and became a tutor, writing A Vindication of the Rights of Women as a counter to Rousseau's idea that men and women were different. She declared that "a well-educated society is where change begins," adding onto her point that women should be versed in the same arts as men and not just be taught to be housekeepers for their husbands. Her second book, Thoughts on the Education of Daughters, countered the idea that men and women education should be separate.
