The Veitnam War (8 nov 1955 año – 12 mar 1964 año)
Descripción:
The Vietnam War was one of the most politically polarizing events due to a central division regarding communism and the motives surrounding the United States' involvement in the war. The political conflict in this time period consisted of support for fighting against communism, which was spreading throughout Asia and became a threat to foreign policy. As the war moved on, public opinion began to express more anti-war sentiment, and communists in America were threatened based on unwanted propaganda for military efforts. Furthermore, there was a polarization between younger people, who had fears of getting drafted for what was, in their opinion, an unjust war, and more elderly conservative citizens, who obtained continued support for it. President Johnson got scrutinized from both sides and overall, this was a highly polarizing era with issues ranging from foreign policy to nationalism.
