Celebration of Chicano Park (22 abr 1971 año – 22 abr 2023 año)

Descripción:

A protest against the demolition of their neighborhood organized by the Logan Heights and Chicano community. Demolition that took place in order to built the I-5 freeway. The destruction of this community led to mass displacement of minorities. Therefore, the establishment of this space was significant because it was a way for the Chicanx community to reclaim and take up space: demonstrating their presence and union in San Diego. The annual celebration demonstrates the continuing empowerment of the culture. It is rich in culture (music, art, food vendors, dance performances, etc.)
