Bleeding Kansas (21 mayo 1856 año – 29 ene 1861 año)
Descripción:
In the Kansas-Nebraska Act, it was decided that the residents of the territories would choose whether Kansas became a free or a slave state. Many people poured into the land, hoping to sway the vote in favor of their beliefs. Bleeding Kansas was a period of guerilla warfare between pro-slavery and anti-slavery forces who occupied Kansas. This violence began in 1856, and although somewhat of a truce was called in 1859, outbreaks of fighting occurred all the way up until Kansas became a part of the Union in 1861. This was some of the violence over the issue of slavery that led to the American Civil War.
