1811 Event: Luddite Protestors (1 ene 1811 año – 1 ene 1816 año)

Descripción:

In 1811, protestors in Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire were gathering to ban new machinery and increase their wages. The new machinery like power looms put people out of jobs because of their high outcome and effortless use. These protestors were known as Luddites, people who opposed technological change. They would send threats to their employers and also damage the machinery in their factories. These riots lead to death penalties and did not convince the government to change their ways. Instead, the whole wool industry transferred to the usage of machinery that didn't need hands on work.
