Ela reigned for 2 years before he was murdered by Zimri, one of his officials. During his reign Zimri one of his officials plotted against him and killed him. Elas death relates to Jehu's prophesy because Zimri killed everyone in Elah's family, just like Baasha killed every member of Jeroboam's family. And Elah did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.
