The Berlin Blockade & Berlin Airlift (19 jun 1948 año – 12 mayo 1949 año)

Descripción:

Following the creation of Trizonia, Stalin decided to blockade the city of Berlin and closed the border between East and West Germany. He hoped to starve West Berlin by depriving it of food and fuel coming into the region, thereby forcing it to fall under his control and become communist.

This led to the Berlin Airlift, conducted by the USA, from 24 June 1948. Food and fuel were flown into the city from West Germany by the USA until Stalin eventually backed down on 12 May 1949.
