American Indian tribes were forced from their homelands in the South and Southeast into the West, traveling along what is now referred to as the Trail of Tears. Four Cherokee members, who were not official Cherokee representatives, ultimately signed away their rights in Georgia, beginning their removal.
American Indian tribes were devastatingly impacted by this event; thousands of Cherokee died throughout the journey. However, they stood strong and by each other's side, walking the trail and documenting the conditions they faced.
