Descripción:

Al-Khansa was an early-Islamic poet. She was a strong woman who refused to marry any man but the man of her choice. She was among the poets who wrote primarily about their loss of male figures in their lives. In this case her husbands and her sons. This was a common trope in poetry of this time: women writing about mourning their lost loved ones particularly those lost in battle.
