The evidence suggests that from the moment Amber Heard arrived in Australia on 3 March 2015 there were arguments, disagreements and fights between her and Johnny Depp. In fact the situation was so concerning for the staff that Dr Kipper had flown in on 5 March 2015 and he and Nurse Debbie had a meeting with both parties designed to cool tempers on Saturday 7 March. Stephen Deuters also attended the Saturday meeting at The Doohan House and texted Christi Dembrowski (back in LA) updates of the situation.
Based on court documents and the evidence presented in both the UK and US courts we can ascertain that the topics causing disharmony included:
1. THE POST NUP
This is certainly one of the topics discussed and possibly argued about as Johnny Depp during both the UK and US trials. There were numerous emails between the lawyers employed to negotiate the POST NUP during this time and several phone calls are referred to with the final email stating that Johnny Depp had fired Ms Mulrooney who was acting for Amber Heard. Ms Mulrooney later admitted during the US VA Trial that even if Johnny Depp were paying her fee he could not fire her.
2. FAT OLD MAN
Amber Heard demeaning Johnny Depp - in particular calling him a fat old man - AND wishing to fire Jerry Judge. On the Audio of 8 March 2015 Jerry Judge stated several times that Amber Heard had confronted him about him reporting to Christi Dembrowski that she had called Johnny Depp a fat old man. Christi had passed this information onto Johnny who was not at all happy and Amber even less so having been found out. Jerry states she had told him he was being fired and had only two weeks left with Johnny which quite possible she had tried to persuade Johnny Depp fulfil on her behalf.
3. LONDON FIELDS - despite being filmed in 2013 it was still top of mind for Amber Heard. By this time Amber Heard has begun her conspiracy against the Producers of London Fields and had gathered support from Billy Bob Thornton and Jim Sturgess to effectively boycott the Producer’s Cut in favour of the fired director Matthew Cullen as perhaps a way to salvage or even bury the film completely. To this end Amber Heard had incorrectly claimed nude and provocative scenes of her were used without consent (she had signed an agreement for this) and she supported a letter sent in November 2014 that also incorrectly claimed the Producers did not own the rights to the proceed with the film. The Producers claimed Amber Heard was the ring leader encouraging the cast to prevent the film being seen by thIrd parties or appear at film festivals, and indeed she had succeeded in preventing the film being premiered at Sundance 2014.
Perhaps little more than a week prior to her arrival in Australia Amber Heard had also led the cast in a refusal to complete their ADR final voice work on the Producer’s Cut - in effect breaking their contracts which could possibly lead to a court case (and did eventually).
One could also speculate that support of Matthew Cullen could be a cover to prevent the film ever being seen for reasons best explained by the 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is also possible that Amber Heard had realised that a record of nude and stimulated sex scenes was detrimental to her being cast in big budget family films, and as Mrs Depp she would expect some of those doors to open.
So was Amber Heard seeking Johnny Depp’s assistance and ‘big name’ clout to stop London Fields ever seeing the light of day? Quite likely Johnny Depp was aware that Amber Heard had breached the terms of her contract that did allow for nudity - maybe she wanted him to finance a buy out or prevent the nude scenes ever being shown or maybe she simply wished to continue her ‘conspiracy’ against the Producers and needed Johnny Depp to pay the legal bills incurred long before any court case filed.
Whatever the exact nature of the conversation, Johnny Depp’s messages in paint and blood across the mirrors and lampshade referenced nude photos, Billy Bob Thornton and Amber Heard’s ambition/vanity.
4. LEAKS - Johnny Depp until this point in time was famously a very private person. He did his work, gave the interviews, attended the premieres and so forth then disappeared behind a screen of privacy rarely being spotted out and about by the paparazzi.
The first hint that this might change was a when helicopter had flown over the Johnny Depp’s private Island taking photographs of the wedding ceremony which had subsequently appeared in The People who seemed the first with an exclusive and quoted source. The Daily Mail and all the other usual suspects followed.
In addition there was the cryptic ‘iO wants to share’ email, the timing of which which suggests iO could have keen to share details of the wedding.
We do know Whitney’s friend Sara Kitnick (who later turned up in post trial documentaries) did work for US Weekly who regularly quoted a source and had regular scoops. Whitney herself did say Sara worked for People Magazine so she could have been freelance and supplied gossip to both. Whatever the publication, it seems this connection was too close for some and Whitney was subsequently accused of leaking information via her friend.
5. Johnny Depp was unhappy with the progress of Pirates 5.
