r. Elizabeth I (1 ene 1572 año – 1 ene 1594 año)
Descripción:
Elizabeth was intelligent, strong-willed, and well liked. She started to instill religious stability after her predecessors. She chose a middle ground between Catholic and Puritan extremes.
She ordered church and government officials to swear that she was supreme in matters of religion and politics, required her subjects to attend services in the Church of England or risk a fine, and called for frequent preaching of Protestant ideas. However, she did not interfere with people's private beliefs. The Anglican Church was thus moved in a moderately protestant direction.
She was eventually threatened by Catholic European powers, especially Philip II.
