Ptolemies (1 ene 300 año aC – 1 ene 31 año aC)

Descripción:

Following the death of Alexander the Great, Ptolemy, a general under Alexander the Great, took power in Egypt and Libya. Ptolemy I followed Alexander the Great's model of adopting elements and symbols of the local culture to gain power. He married Nectanebo II's daughter in order to directly relate himself with the pharaonic line. In addition, statues of him were wrought in both Greek and Egyptian styles. He and his son founded the Library of Alexandria and the Museum which became a world-renown center of knowledge under the guidance of Erasthenes.
