MESOPOTAMIAN MAJOR COLLAPSE (1 ene 2900 año aC – 1 ene 2800 año aC)

Descripción:

DID NIMROD BUILD THE TOWER OF BABEL ? by Gerard Gertoux

...this period of extraordinary expansion was followed by a period of decline dated 2900-2800 BCE which ceased with the rebirth of the city of Kish around 2800 BCE, then those of Uruk and Ur around 2500 BCE.

At the beginning of the third millennium, there was therefore a powerful Mesopotamian empire that dominated the entire world at the time and its administration had been able to build imposing palatial temples. With no apparent cause, this world empire collapsed abruptly (c. 2950 BCE), causing a massive migration of its population eastward, to Elam and the Indus Valley, and westward along the Euphrates to the Mediterranean. Despite their importance, all these Sumerian cities would undergo a decline for three centuries, except for Kish, during which new constructions were few and, although Sumerian writing appeared at the time of this collapse, very few inscriptions are dated during these centuries of darkness.
