The Lewis and Clark expedition was an organized expedition led by Captain Meriwether Lewis. President Thomas Jefferson assigned the expedition with the exploring the Louisiana Purchase and the Pacific Northwest. An Indian woman Sacagawea traveled with them as interpreter. The expedition was made from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean.
