European Contact in America (1 ene 1491 año – 1 ene 1607 año)
Descripción:
Indigenous peoples developed complex societies and methods
of interacting with the environment around them. These systems were disrupted and in
some cases destroyed by European colonizers, whose arrival and establishment of the
Columbian Exchange altered both American and European society. However, indigenous
groups resisted colonization efforts, which in some cases successfully led to
the accommodation of indigenous culture by colonizers.
Spanish colonists went to America as servants of the Spanish crown. On the other hand, New England colonists went to America as autocratic and looked forward to living freely in America while following the New England laws. But both colonist had the same goal present the search of gold and other precious metals in America. And in relativity to the natives
New England colonies focused more on trade and subsistence farming. Meanwhile, the middle colonies' economy was more focused on farming grain and had more diversity in products than the New England colonies. On the other hand, Southern colonies had a greater hierarchy of cash, crops, cotton, rice, and indigo.
New England colonies had a more puritan ethnic way of living and believed that their land was god given and had a theoretic government. Middle colonies were directly governed by the king of England. Southern colonies elected there own legislature.
One factor that contributed to the American revolution was intolerable acts that forced rebelling colonies back to there place. This was an act of aggression from Britain that just sparked the American desire for independence. Another factor that contributed was the Boston Massacre which was another act of aggression from the British by killing protesters. Another Factor was Thomas Paine "Common Sense" where he argued the reasons why the Americans should not submit the British rule and inspire them to revolt.
