European Contact in America 1491 - 1607 (1 ene 1491 año – 1 ene 1607 año)
Descripción:
Indigenous peoples developed complex societies and methods of interacting with the environment around them. These systems were disrupted and in some cases destroyed by European colonizers, whose arrival and establishment of the Columbian Exchange altered both American and European society. However, indigenous groups resisted colonization efforts, which in some cases successfully led to accommodation of indigenous culture by colonizers.
North American colonization compared to the Spanish and English is the forcing of religion. North American, English, and Spanish settlers favored using religion as a source of reason and will to live. But, English/Spanish settlers also favored freedom to live and North American settlers favored being governed. Furthermore, both groups dominated Native Americans as a way to demonstrate these beliefs onto. In other words, they desired to assimilate Native Americans within either beliefs.
