Period 3: Revolutionary Era (1 ene 1754 año – 1 ene 1783 año)
Descripción:
Enduring Understanding: The end of salutary neglect as a result of the French and Indian war led the colonists to declare independence. They garnered support for independence through a variety of means including art and idea pamphlets based on things such as the First Great Awakening and the Enlightenment. However, these ideas of liberty and equality were not inclusive.
Due to tensions between the British and colonists, the American Revolution occurred. This also led to the Boston Tea Party because of the taxation that the British were putting on the Americans. The British were only taxing them in order to pay for the debt they had after the French and Indian War. There was no check and balances in the system which allowed anyone in the government (president) to do what they wanted to the country, without the permission of another group. There was no central leadership which meant there was no power for Congress to maintain the country together. All these flaws in the Articles of Confederation led to the weakness in the document.
