Wang Xizi was born in 303 CE in Linyi, Shandong. He was one of the most important and well known chinese calligraphers. He developed the technique of Xing style calligraphy which is a flowing style of writing that allows the writer to convey their emotions through the writing. None of his works have made it to the modern day and the only existing pieces (only 21 remain) are copies made during the Tang dynasty.

Many students learning calligraphy try to copy and preserve his style. He is often referred to as the Sage of calligraphy.
