The Yuan Dynasty was founded by kublai khan and lasted from 1260 to 1368 CE. It was the first dynasty to set its capital in Beijing (where China's capital is now) while also rebuilding the grand canal and reorganizing the road and postal systems. They abolished the civil service exams because it favored the Chinese and set up tremendous trade routes throughout East and Central Asia, including India and russia. Additionally they doubled up jobs in government with one chinese and one mongol per job.

Marco polo visited during this time and supposedly became a close confidant to kublai khan, though his stories might not be true

The Yuan dynasty was eventually overthrown by the Red Turban Movement to create the Ming dynasty due to taxes being too high because of the doubling up of jobs, corrupt government, floods, famines and infighting.
