The Treaty of Versailles officially ended WW1, by forcing Germany to take responsibility for the war. This meant Germany lost territories, reduced it's military forces, and made payments to Allied powers. Some historians think this contributed to German economic and political instability which could have allowed the formation of the Nazis years later.
