The Red Scare (24 mar 1947 año – 24 mar 1954 año)

Descripción:

The Red Scare was a tense time in American History. With the rise of communism, people feared that anyone could be corrupt, even US government officials.
On March 24, 1947 Harry Truman issued the Loyalty Order which allowed all members of the government to be analyzed to determine whether they were loyal to the US or not. This fear began a spark of panic which was then ignited by Joseph McCarthy.
McCarthy was a Wisconsin Senator who used fear and power to accuse and investigate people suspected of having ties with communism. He accused many actors, like the Hollywood 10, and other citizens who opposed his views costing them their jobs and reputations.
McCarthy was finally demoted of power when he began accusing WWI veterans and his tactics that were televised in hearings were denounced and criticized by the public.
