Following a dispute over the Spanish monarchy, France is embarrassingly and swiftly kicked in the ass by the North German Confederation and Friends, which quickly destroy the French military at Sedan, capture Napoleon III, and siege down Paris. Following this, the NGF federalizes with its allies Wurttemburg, Hesse, Bavaria, and Baden into the German Empire, largely against soon to be Emperor Wilhelm I desires, and France declares the Third Republic, also against the will of the largely monarchist national legislature. Also Alsace-Lorraine was annexed by Germany and this would lead to no problems ever in history.
