With the emergence of robber barons and large amounts of wealth being concentrated on just a handful of people, the Social Gospel was birthed. The Social Gospel called on men with wealth to share it with their community for the progression and the good of the human race. The Social Gospel was a response by Protestant priests to the economic problems of the time.
