In his early life, Calvin is sent to the University of Paris where he graduates with his master’s degree in theology at 18. Later in his pastoral career, he recognizes four offices of leadership in the church: pastors, teachers, elders, and deacons. Over the course of his decades in Geneva, Calvin guides the city toward a comprehensive and coherent understanding of Christian life that engaged social, political, spiritual, and theological dimensions, and
his beliefs became known as the “reformed” faith.
