The Khmer empire was an empire located in southwest Asia where Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam are today, and although it was initially primarily Hindu, it converted to Buddhism in the 12-13th centuries. It was home to lots of agricultural innovation and prosperity due to advanced irrigation and drainage systems.
