he studied world history, religion, military strategy (really just a course made specifically for him, he was the only student in the class, with a few other higher ranking noblemen's sons joining every once in a while) magic studies (magic is banned, so it's more of a history of magic thing), sports, politics, social sciences, economics, some other statety stuff
canter is close to the highlands, and they're not thrilled with the king to begin with, so him having no heir and who will be chosesn is a constant point of debate in those parts, and most people think it'll be jams, so james isolates himself from his fellow schoolmates, save for his roomie wil :) ooh boi hope that friendship will last a lifetime, however short that may be :))
he and wil are team buddies, they play camaan (yes i changed the name sue me) together, they both have some aggressions ok, better that than, idk, murder
