Born a bastard to Garm Branoon and an unknown woman. She is recognised as a Branoon, though, and raised in Trinkem. She runs away with a commoner - only known as Cook - and has a child with him. The daughter is Miyan, but Jayla dies giving birth and Cook leaves the child with Garm.
