*showed that microbes caused fermination / spoilage, disproved spon. generation, what he is really known for is the development of pasteurization, demonstrated the germ theory and developed the rabies vaccination
* went to the Royal College of Besancon in Paris
* (interesting fact) his remains were transferred to a NeoByzantine crypt at the Pasteur Institute in 1896.
