Phoenicians were great maritime people and were known for building ships. Since they sailed along the Mediterranean, Britain, and the African continent, they were called traders of antiquity. Tyre and Sidon were two of their prosperous cities.

The Phoenicians were not good at warfare. They focused more on their livelihood. In fact, every time they established a colony, their goal was to make it a trading station or a source of raw materials for the products they produce and trade.
