Japanese Internment Camps (WWII) (1 sept 1939 año – 2 sept 1945 año)

Descripción:

In Asian American history, WWII is especially marked by the imprisonment of Japanese-Americans within the U.S. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Japanese-Americans were faced with many difficulties that resulted in communal trauma. While placed in internment camps, many Japanese-Americans lost their lands, homes, and businesses, ran the risk of being deported, and were constantly asked to prove their loyalties to America. Loyalty surveys resulted in either the imprisonment/deportation or the drafting of Japanese-Americans to the war.

The U.S. failed to show true acknowledgment of Japanese-Americans by leaving them in a condition of statelessness. The U.S. ultimately discouraged the communal healing of Asian Americans within its borders.
