- Protests raise awareness of inequality and discrimination, leading US Government to pass following acts (laws): - Civil Rights Act (1964): ends lawful segregation and discrimination in public places such as schools and workplaces - Voting Rights Act (1965): Made voting easier for African-Americans to access by removing voting taxes and literacy tests. - Civil Rights Act (1968): Removed housing segregation so that African-Americans could live where they wanted to. Resulted in many African-Americans moving to city housing.
