Dachau Concentration Camp (16 nov 1945 año – 28 nov 1945 año)

Yanek gets to Dachau, and a rude awakening confronts him. Typhus is as bad as ever here. It was almost killing as many prisoners as the kapos killed prisoners. The man that Yanek had to sleep with caught it the first day, and Yanek got lucky that he didn't catch it. Yanek was probably the only prisoner that tried to stay clean, by washing every morning, and trying to brush his teeth. Planes started flying right overhead, and they could hear the gunfire from the planes. The prisoners knew they would get out anytime now. Then one morning, they woke up, to see the front gate wide open, and to see no sign of guards anywhere. They had all left. The Allies had liberated the camp. They had survived.
