Edwardian War (1 ene 1337 año – 1 ene 1360 año)

Descripción:

The Edwardian War was fought from 1337 to 1360. In 1328 the french king Charles IV died leaving no clear heir. His closest male relative was Edward III, king of England, who through his mother Isabelle of France was the nephew of the deceased king. His claim for the throne was denied due to the french law passed in 1316 decreeing that no woman could be the heir to the french throne leaving the next male relative Philip VI of France to be crowned king.
England eventually backed down on its claims to the french throne. This changed in 1337 when Philip VI confiscated english lands in France forcing Edward III to reinstate his claim on the throne. When their claim was refused english armies invaded France winning several major battles including the battles of Crécy and Poitiers. Many of these victories were possible do tho the english longbow with its superior range and reloading rate of 15 arrows per minute comparing to the french crossbow reloading rate of around 2 or three arrows per minute.
